What to do if Microsoft Edge isn't working

Here are some common solutions to problems with Microsoft Edge. If you can't open Microsoft Edge, or if it opens briefly and then closes, try the following:
  • Restart your PC
Restart your PC and then reopen Microsoft Edge. Select the Start   button, then select Power  > Restart.
  • Install the latest updates
Run Windows Update to help correct problems by replacing outdated files, updating drivers, and fixing vulnerabilities.

To check for updates, select the Start button  > Settings  Update & security   > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your PC is current, you have all the current updates.
  • Clear browsing history
Your browser automatically saves temporary Internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix page display problems.

If you can open Microsoft Edge, select Hub  > History Clear all history. Select Browsing history and Cached data and files, and then select Clear.
  • Clear all browsing data
If you can open Microsoft Edge, select Hub  > History Clear all history. Select all the boxes, and then select Clear.
  • Repair or reset Microsoft Edge
Repairing the browser won't affect anything, but resetting will remove your history, cookies, and any settings you might have changed. You'll find these options in Settings  > Apps Microsoft Edge > Advanced options
If the problem continues, look for answers in the Microsoft Edge forum and also report issues with the browser or specific sites. Just select Settings and more  > Send feedback. The Microsoft Edge team is always looking at feedback and working on issues.
